HOW LANAP® WORKS
What to Expect During the Procedure
LASER SURGERY
Using a laser fiber as thin as three human hairs, we remove harmful bacteria and diseased tissue with precision, leaving healthy tissue intact. This minimally invasive technique promotes faster healing and reduces discomfort compared to traditional methods.
BITE ADJUSTMENT
After the procedure, our doctors will adjust your bite to ensure proper alignment, minimizing pressure on the treated areas and supporting optimal healing.
QUICK RECOVERY
Most patients experience a rapid recovery and can return to normal activities shortly after treatment. With minimal discomfort, most patients find they require little to no prescription pain medication.
PERIODONTAL MAINTENANCE
To maintain your results and overall oral health, you'll be scheduled for regular periodontal cleanings every three months. This ongoing maintenance helps prevent recurrence of gum disease and supports long-term oral health.
FAQs
About
LANAP®
What is LANAP® and how does it work?
LANAP® (Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure) is a modern, FDA-cleared treatment for gum disease that uses a specialized laser to remove infected tissue and bacteria while preserving healthy tissue. At NOCO Perio in Fort Collins and Greeley, CO, LANAP® encourages your gums to naturally reattach to the teeth and stimulates bone regeneration.
How is LANAP® different from traditional gum surgery?
Unlike traditional gum surgery that involves scalpels and sutures, LANAP® is minimally invasive and performed with a gentle laser. Patients in Fort Collins and Greeley often experience less pain, less bleeding, shorter recovery time, and a faster return to normal activities.
Who is a good candidate for LANAP®?
LANAP® is recommended for patients with moderate to severe periodontal disease who want a less invasive alternative to surgery. If you have gum bleeding, recession, or loose teeth, our Fort Collins and Greeley periodontists can evaluate if LANAP® is the right option for you.
What is recovery like after LANAP®?
Most patients report mild discomfort that resolves quickly. Since no cutting or stitches are involved, recovery is much easier compared to traditional gum surgery. At NOCO Perio in Fort Collins and Greeley, many patients return to daily activities within 24 hours.
How much does LANAP® cost?
The cost of LANAP® depends on the extent of gum disease and how many areas need treatment. At NOCO Perio, our Fort Collins and Greeley offices provide clear estimates during your consultation. Many insurance plans cover part of the cost, and financing options are available through CareCredit and Cherry®.
