Meet Dr. Nick Shumaker

Dr. Nick Shumaker, a proud Northern Colorado native, is dedicated to providing exceptional periodontal care.  After earning his dental degree with honors from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry in 2001, he spent a decade as an officer in the United States Navy Dental Corps.

Before specializing in Periodontics and Dental Implant Surgery, Dr. Shumaker practiced general dentistry for four years and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency in 2002.  He later went on to complete an intensive three-year residency in Periodontics and Dental Implant Surgery at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland in 2008.  After finishing his service with the US Navy in 2011, he returned home to join Northern Colorado Periodontics.

A dual board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Dr. Shumaker also holds a Master’s degree in Oral Biology from The George Washington University. His expertise is further demonstrated through his multiple peer-reviewed publications in the field of periodontics, dental implant surgery, dental anesthesiology, and oral medicine.

Dr. Shumaker has been repeatedly recognized as one of Colorado’s Top Dentists by 5280 Magazine.  At our practice, he combines advanced training, cutting-edge techniques, and a compassionate approach to help patients achieve optimal oral health.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Shumaker enjoys an active lifestyle with his family, exploring Colorado’s great outdoors, skiing, and pursuing his passion for motorsports as a racing driver and race driving instructor.  Committed to continuous learning, he frequently attends and teaches continuing education courses, ensuring his patients continue to receive the highest and latest standard of care.
